Protection of the painting „Madonna delle Rose (Tiziano)" in
the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.
To ensure the conservation and protection of the painting "Madonna
delle Rose" from Tizian in the Uffizi Gallery, the gallery decided
to purchase a PROTECTOR picture case. The showcase had to maintain a
constant relative humidity of 52%. This value was specified in cooperation
with the museum management and the restorer.
During the installation of the painting in the exhibition area a prevailing
relative air
humidity of about 40% had to be controlled beyond the given passive air
conditioning
possibilities. This task was assigned to the patented active Clean Air
and Relative Humidity module RK-2. In a relatively long period of nearly
2 months, the relative humidity in the showcase was raised and stabilized
extremely carefully to the desired 52%. Once this air quality was achieved,
the RK-2 Generator was switched off and the air connections were closed.
The temperature and the relative air humidity are controlled on a daily
basis.
In the event of deviations caused by the humidity absorption of the
painting, the Clean Air and Relative Humidity module RK-2 can easily
be reintroduced and compensate the loss. The aluminium profiles of the
PROTECTOR picture case were adapted accurately to the fold-measures of
the painting frame. Finally, the necessary hanging systems were attached.
The monitoring of the micro environment of the painting during its exposition
in the gallery is possible by means of the digital HAHN-hand hygrometer,
without the need to move or open the showcase.
We are convinced that our commitment to the best of our knowledge has
contributed to preserve this work of art, and we hope that many generations
will enjoy this in deed beautiful and peace radiating painting.
